Free Bible Study Materials for Christian Discipleship E-Newsletter
For years I have devoted myself to developing free Bible study materials for discipleship. I have read books, attended conferences, purchased tapes, CDs and DVDs. I have taught Sunday School, led small groups and basically done everything I could to understand and imitate the way Jesus developed his own disciples.
While I would never claim to know more than anybody else on this subject, I am very familiar with the amount of time and energy it takes to help others mature spiritually. To me, there is nothing better than a ministry that is personal, relational and reproducible. Disciple-making is all three. As A.W. Tozer once wrote, "If my fire is not large it is yet real, and there may be those who can light their candle at its flame."
Discipleship is Apprenticeship
A follower of Jesus is an apprentice. No word captures the essence of discipleship better than the word apprenticeship. Becoming an apprentice of Jesus involves more than merely learning facts from free Bible study materials. In order for an apprentice of Jesus to learn a new lifestyle, he must know it, see it and do it. He watches, imitates and practices. He is equipped life-on-life by a real person. My desire is to become a mature apprentice of Jesus and help others do the same.
I want my discipleship to be active not passive; focused on the street not the classroom. I want to learn new and different things by experience not just theory. Will you embrace this challenge with me? You won't regret it. We can help others become apprentices of Jesus through time together and practice. In real life settings we can pass on our knowledge, experiences, skills, successes and failures. As you lead others and participate in Christian Bible studies, you will fulfill this calling.
