(Note: The audio on this lesson is poor. The other four lessons in this series have much better audio quality.)

First in a series of five lessons based on my book Kingdom Disciple - Building your Relationship with Jesus.

Presented at the Okoboji Lakes Bible and Missionary Conference in August, 2012.

Read more about Kingdom Disciple.

Is there a difference between a Christian and a follower of Jesus? What is a disciple? What does Jesus really expect?

This five-lesson study is not a new program about "doing discipleship." It is a guide to create authentic disciples. Learn the lifestyle of Jesus and model a life worth imitating.

When these audio lessons were recorded, each person had a copy of Kingdom Disciple. These audio classes have been edited to focus on the main idea. There are no natural breaks between major sections. If you are using these audio lessons in your small group, listen carefully so that you can periodically stop the recording to discuss the ideas presented with your group.

The audio lessons contain only the application and explanation of lessons in Kingdom Disciple. To maximize your experience, read Kingdom Disciple before or as you are listening to the audio lesson. The text of the book, as well as the discussion questions correlate with the audio lesson.

Lesson 1 - The First Expectation of Grace is "Come".

I. Discipleship is about learning and modeling. A disciple is a learner. A disciple-maker is a model. Discipleship is learning the lifestyle of Jesus and then modeling a life worth imitating.

II. Zacchaeus had a personal encounter with Christ. (Luke 19:1-10)

III. The story of Zacchaeus is a beautiful picture of undeserved grace and life transformation. Repent and believe was the central theme of Jesus' public teaching.

IV. To grow and develop spiritually, a weekly routine of Sunday services and classes is not enough. We must hear a voice. We must hear Jesus say, "come to me." It is the invitation that changes everything.
